Scleral Contact Lenses in Long Island
Dr. Galan has more than 20 years of experience prescribing and fitting scleral contact lenses for the correction of vision problems related to conditions such as severe astigmatism and keratoconus. These conditions cause the cornea to become misshapen, making soft contacts, which conform to the shape of the cornea, ineffective. By contrast, scleral lenses rigidly maintain their shape, and vault over the distorted cornea, bypassing its warped shape, and providing crystal-clear vision.
In his own words, Dr. Galan has prescribed scleral lenses to “hundreds and hundreds of patients over the years.”
Providing Myopia Management For Kids in Long Island
Dr. Galan is also very passionate about helping children manage their myopia (also known as nearsightedness). He is a member of the American Academy of Optometry and Myopia Control (AAOMC), and he designs custom-made contact lenses to help prevent children's myopia from progressing into a higher prescription.
Dr. Galan regularly educates his patients about myopia progression and the proven connection between severe myopia and an increased risk of sight-threatening eye diseases later in life. He uses myopia management treatments such as orthokeratology, soft multifocal contact lenses, and atropine, to effectively keep your child's eye health and prescription stable.
Dr. Galan continues to build his practice with modern technology combined with the latest techniques in the field of optometry, so that every patient will be guaranteed a lifetime of good eye health & clear vision.
