I grew up on Long Island. I have been in the medical field for over 20 years. Most of that time I was a veterinary technician. I specialized in ophthalmology for years. I have been with Dr. Galan for 4 years; in my free time you can find me hanging out with my animals or hanging off a mountain.
I have been in optical business for thirty Five years. In that time I have built so many wonderful relationships with our patients and I especially enjoy when a patient leaves our office happy, satisfied and most important confident in their ability to use contacts and have the freedom that contacts give a patient to see well and enjoy life without vision impairment. It is very rewarding.
I grew up in the nearby town of Valley Steam, and currently reside in the Five Towns. I am a New York State Licensed Ophthalmic Dispenser(Optician), specializing in difficult eyewear prescriptions, Varilux* progressive lenses, thin lens and digital technologies, and high fashion eyewear. I have over 35 years of optical experience, and served multiple terms on the Board of Directors for the New York State Society of Opticians.
Previous to joining Dr. Galan and the Diamond Vision family in October of 2018, I was the Owner and President of Vision Finders, Inc., East Rockaway 1995-2018. Before then, I worked in both in private practices and large companies since 1983.
With my background and reputation for craftsmanship, and my attention to detail, you can be assured I will offer the best and most appropriate options to optimize your vision and comfort.
Born and raised in Canarsie Brooklyn, and moved to Long Island during my high school years. My passion was always the fine arts. I majored in Interior Design during my early college days but quickly turned my attention to Optics. I was Pre-Med at Hofstra University when I had an opportunity to try a new part time job at a local optical business. I found that I had a knack both for fitting frames and making people smile. I left Hofstra to pursue my degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing, and have not looked back.
As a student, I am proud to have earned the National Varilux Student Award Winner in 1995. I graduated Presidents List, and have been serving as President of the ASA advisory board for the Ophthalmic Dispensing Program (Formerly, TCI, Interboro Institute). I have been in the Optical field since 1993, I have been a Licensed Optician for 25 years now. I simply love what I do for you. I take pride in having the ability to both make glasses and fit them.
One of my better qualities has always been one of a problem solver when it comes to troubleshooting any issues that may arise. I was a fabricator of eyeglasses when it was a craft, and enjoy making eyewear and fitting them. I owned two businesses of my own for 10 years, and worked for Davis Vision for 8 years where I was General Manager, Retail Supervisor, and Licensed Optician.
I am beyond elated to have joined Dr. Galan and family at Diamond Vision. I joined in July of 2018, and hope to continue to serve the community and beyond. I look forward to creating a great rapport and bringing interesting and new products to Diamond Vision. Everyone deserves quality eye care and quality eye wear, I hope to continue this mission and goal with Dr. Galan.
I traveled a lot when I was younger. I settled down in Long Island and have been in the optometry field for 5 years. I recently joined the Diamond Vision team and love it here. I have a love of animals and family. I look forward to spending time with them.
I grew up in Queens, NY. My dad was an optician. At an early age I would go to work with him and that’s where I started learning this business. I have 30+ experience in all phases of optometric. Family is everything to me. On my days off you can find me relaxing and enjoying my time with them.
